• I consider the Big Thompson my home river.  It being close by, I can get there for a quick evening of fishing.  There are countless pull outs with easy access all the way from Loveland to Estes Park (through the Big Thompson Canyon).  My favorite spots are where the the river breaks away from the road, allowing you to get to some good quiet spots with deep holes.  While I haven't seen trophy size trout there, I have been kept busy with lots of 8-10" trout, and rarely get skunked.  The easy access and "willing" fish makes it a great place to learn while having fun.
